Q

How do I know if my child is eligible for transportation?

A

Legally reside two or more miles from his/her assigned campus of regular attendance (home campus) or legally reside in a school board designated hazardous traffic area within two miles of the students home campus as determined by the districts school board of trustees policy regarding students that would be subject to hazardous traffic conditions if walking to their designated home campus.

Q

When can he/she start riding the bus?

A

As soon as he/she presents a bus pass to the driver.  Bus passes are issued at the campus.

Q

Can the bus pick up my Pre-K or Kinder child in front of our home?  It is not safe for my child to walk alone and wait at bus stop.

A

The district provides curb to curb transportation service to and  from school for Special Needs students only.  All other students must wait for the bus at the designated bus stop.  Parents, guardians or persons identified as the child's caretaker must accompany the student to a designated bus stop for both AM and PM route loading/unloading.  No Kinder or Pre-K students will be dropped off if no one is there to meet them.

Q My child is in the Special-ed Program and currently rides the bus to and from school, can my other child (regular ed) ride with him/her?....They attend the same school.
A

No. Only students recommended by the Admission, Review, Dismissal (ARD) committee and whose Individualized Education Program (IEP) specifies that special transportation services will be provided are allowed to ride a Sp Needs bus.

Q Can my child be dropped off at a different location, i.e., work place, grandparents, aunt/uncles, etc?
A To avoid confusion or the possibility of mis-placing a student; transporting to a different location other than the regular stop is kept at a minimum.  However, it can be done provided the transportation department receives from the parent/guardian a signed memo making the request. the memo should include the duration of the change and a contact phone number.  The transportation department will not recognize any memo brought in by the students.
