Our Mission
The mission of the Comprehensive School Health Department (CSHD) is to enhance the educational process by modification or removal of health-related barriers to learning and by the promotion of an optimal level of wellness.
The School Health Program of the McAllen Independent School District is designed to assure a safe, healthy environment that is conducive to learning, and to provide care for those who become ill or injured at school.
Our Goals

- To eliminate or minimize health problems which impair learning by maintaining an effective screening and referral program.
- To augment health instruction which guides students toward reaching full capacity as individuals to make responsible decisions about personal, family, and community health.
- To advocate and help provide an environment conducive to the promotion and maintenance of health.
- To achieve acceptable levels of compliance with federal, state, and local health regulations.
